The State of Shilajit Testing: How Many Products Publish a Lab Report?
Figures as of October 22, 2026 · updated hourly from our database
The finding
Of 361 shilajit products we track, 233 (65%) say they test for heavy metals, but only 24 (7%) publish an independent lab report with numeric lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury results on the finished product. Shilajit can accumulate heavy metals from the rock it comes from, so a claim without numbers tells a buyer very little.

The UK market
Of the 127 products we found on sale from UK retailers, 6 have an independently verified lab report and 4 give numeric finished-product heavy-metal results. See shilajit in the UK for the graded products and prices.
How our grades fall
Grades for the 246 products with enough data to grade (the rest lack a lab report or enough information to score):
- A+9
- A5
- B16
- C19
- D56
- E100
- F41
The grade rewards what a lab report documents, so the low grades mostly reflect missing evidence, not proof of contamination. For how it works, see our grading method, and for what price does and doesn't tell you, see where to buy shilajit.
Method and limits
- What we count. Products we have catalogued from brand websites, Amazon and UK retailers, not every shilajit product sold anywhere. Figures include products too thin to grade.
- “Independent” means we read the report and it was issued by a laboratory, not by the brand or its manufacturer. “Numeric” means measured values, not “pass”. “Finished product” means the retail product, not the raw material.
- What we may miss. A brand may hold a report we could not find. If you have one, tell us through the about page and we will review it.
- Not a safety verdict. A product without a published report is not shown to be unsafe. It is unverified.
