Shilajit Price Per Gram: What It Costs and What You Get
Last reviewed November 2026 · 6 min read
Divide the price by the grams in the jar, then multiply by the grams you take. Across the 93 priced shilajit resins we grade, that comes to a median of $1.33 per gram (about $0.67 a day at 500 mg), and the middle half fall between $0.77 and $2.17 per gram. Price per gram is a useful way to compare jars of different sizes. It is a poor way to judge quality, because above the cheapest jars, which mostly publish nothing, what a resin costs says little about what its lab report documents.
How to calculate price per gram and per day
- Price per gram = price of the jar ÷ grams of resin in it. A 30 g jar at $45 is $1.50 per gram.
- Cost per day = price per gram × grams per day. At 500 mg (0.5 g) a day, $1.50 per gram is $0.75 a day.
- Days per jar = grams in the jar ÷ grams per day. A 30 g jar lasts 60 days at 500 mg.
We work from the listed product price and jar size, so shipping, subscription discounts and coupon codes are not included. Use the same method on any listing when you want to include them. We use 500 mg a day because it is the dose most often used in the human trials; see shilajit clinical dosage.
What graded resins cost, by grade
Grades come from what each product’s Certificate of Analysis documents, by the same formula for every brand (see the methodology). Grouping the priced resins by grade gives this, from the live database:
| Grade | Resins | Lowest $/g | Median $/g | Highest $/g |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A+ and A | 13 | $1.33 | $3.67 | $6.10 |
| B and C | 11 | $0.70 | $1.69 | $4.20 |
| D, E and F | 69 | $0.10 | $1.00 | $6.67 |
Resins with a listed price per gram only. Prices come from listed product prices and jar sizes and exclude shipping. The lowest and highest figures can be a single marketplace listing, so the median is the steadier number.
Does a higher price mean better documented?
Split the same resins into thirds by price and count how many in each third are graded E or F, our two lowest grades:
| Price third | $/g range | Resins | Graded E or F |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cheapest third | $0.10 – $1.00 | 31 | 29 |
| Middle third | $1.00 – $1.83 | 31 | 19 |
| Most expensive third | $1.83 – $6.67 | 31 | 4 |
The lowest-priced resin graded A or better is Pure Himalayan Shilajit Resin (A) at $1.33 per gram. The most expensive resin graded E or F is NutroTonic Authentic Himalayan Shilajit® Resin 15G (E) at $6.67 per gram. Price reflects branding, add-ins such as silver or gold, and jar size as well as testing, so it cannot stand in for a lab report. The cheapest jars are also the ones most likely to publish nothing, which is why a low price is not a reason to buy and not proof of a problem either.
Cost per quality point: comparing value fairly
A better comparison divides price per gram by the grade score, so a product has to earn its price. A C-graded resin at $1.00 per gram costs less per quality point than a poorly documented jar at $0.80, if it documents more. That is how our best value list is ranked, and it only includes products graded C or better that have a price per gram (almost all resins). The five best today:
| Product | Grade | $/g | $ per quality point |
|---|---|---|---|
| BlakBrik Pure Himalayan Shilajit Resin, High Potency | B | $0.70 | $0.10 (7 pts) |
| Pure Himalayan Shilajit Resin | A | $1.33 | $0.12 (11 pts) |
| Nootropics Depot Primavie Shilajit Powder | C | $0.97 | $0.16 (6 pts) |
| Essencraft Pure Organic Himalayan Shilajit Resin | A | $1.83 | $0.17 (11 pts) |
| Based Natural Himalayan Shilajit Resin | B | $1.69 | $0.19 (9 pts) |
Why this only covers resin
Per-gram pricing is comparable between resins because they are mostly the same material. A capsule’s weight includes the shell and fillers, and a gummy is mostly sugar and gelatin, so price per gram would tell you little about how much shilajit you are buying. For those forms compare the shilajit per serving on the label and the price per serving instead, and read resin vs capsules vs tablets vs gummies for how form affects the grade.
How to buy on price without being misled
- Check the lab report first. Look for a named independent lab, numeric heavy metals on this product and a batch code. See how to read a shilajit COA.
- Then compare price per gram among the resins that pass.
- Ignore fulvic acid percentage as a value metric. It is measured inconsistently between labs; see fulvic acid percentage explained.
- Check the jar size. A “sale” on a 10 g jar can cost more per gram than the full price of a 30 g one.
We earn no affiliate revenue from any brand and prices do not affect grades; see the disclosure. Prices change; confirm the price and jar size on the seller’s page before you buy.
Shilajit price: common questions
What is a good price per gram for shilajit?
Among the 93 priced resins we grade, the median is $1.33 per gram and the middle half sit between $0.77 and $2.17. Price is a weak guide to quality: the cheapest third is mostly poorly documented (29 of 31 graded E or F), but so are 4 of the 31 in the most expensive third. Check the lab report first and compare price only among resins that publish one.
How much does shilajit cost per day?
At the 500 mg a day used in most human trials, a resin costing $1.00 per gram works out to $0.50 a day, $2.00 per gram to $1.00 a day and $5.00 per gram to $2.50 a day. Multiply the price per gram by the grams you take (500 mg = 0.5 g).
Is expensive shilajit better?
Not reliably. A high price does not guarantee a well-documented resin: some of the most expensive jars are graded E or F, and some of the best documented cost far less. Price reflects branding, add-ins and jar size as well as testing. What predicts quality in our grading is what the Certificate of Analysis documents: independent lab, numeric heavy metals on the finished product, batch code and recency.
Is cheap shilajit fake?
Cheap does not prove fake, and a high price does not prove real. A low price per gram is more often attached to resins with no published lab report, which means you cannot tell. The way to find out is the lab report, not the price. See how to spot fake shilajit for the checks that work and the ones that don't.
Why does this guide only give price per gram for resin?
Price per gram is only comparable between products that are mostly the same material. A capsule's weight includes the shell and fillers, and a gummy is mostly sugar and gelatin, so a per-gram figure would say little about how much shilajit you are paying for. Almost every product with a price per gram in our database is a resin, so this guide compares resins.
